General
This Championship Series will be run under all the basic rules and regulations governing
official motorsport events in South Africa in addition to the Rules listed under
"Minimoto 2012 Rules". Where not specifically mentioned in these rules, Supplementary
Regulations or Final Instructions, for each event, it is deemed forbidden. Each
event will be controlled by a Clerk of the Course, as appointed by the Organisers.
The Clerk of the Course has full authority on the day, to penalise, exclude Competitors.
However should anyone be aggrieved by any decision, they have the right to Protest
(see protest section).
Events
All races will generally be held on Saturdays at various circuits in and around
the Gauteng region. A limited number of away event(s) may also be included at the
discretion of the organisers and will count towards the championship points. Should
a race or races, heat or heats be cancelled or Red Flagged, the total scores for
the series shall be calculated on the basis of races/heats held. In the event of
a Red Flag for a heat, should 50% plus one lap, of the heat be completed, then it
shall count as a full race, and the finishing order will be calculated from the
previous lap, (before the Red Flag was implemented). Should less than 50% plus one
lap have been completed, then that race will be rerun at the end of the day, time
permitting, at the discretion of the Race Directors.
Technical Requirements
In addition to the class specific rules as laid out, the following general rules
shall apply to all classes unless otherwise stipulated.
- All fairings, front and rear mudguards and bodywork must be in place and must appear
to be as originally produced by the manufacturer, but may be replaced with exact
cosmetic duplicates of the original parts but constructed of a different material.
- Competitors may use any fuel and any fuel additives
- Rain tires – any rain tire will be allowed, in any class of racing
Rider Liability
Participants take part in events at their own risk. Upon the submission of their
entry, whether electronically or in writing, applicants and their riders declare
their wavering of claims for damages of any kind which occur in the context of the
event against:
- The organisers of the MiniMoto SA 2012 corporate league
- Authorities, racing services and all other persons associated with the organisation
of the events
- The road constructions companies, should any damage occur as a result of track characteristics
- All other participants (teams and riders), their assistants, the owners or keepers
of other vehicles
- The owners/promoters of venues at which the events are held
2012 Entry Fees
Entry fees into the 2012 MiniMoto SA corporate league shgall be as follows.

- Scooter Open - R 300.00
These prices are inclusive of transponder hire. Should you own your own transponder,
a reduction of R50 is applicable on your entry fee. All prices include VAT.
The following promotions are available:
- Pay for your most expensive class entry and have free entry into any other class
for the day. This excludes transponder hire for the other class(es) should you with
to make use of a different transponder for each class
Protective Clothing
All competitors, while competing on track at a MiniMoto SA sanctioned event, whether
during free practice, qualifying and or a race heat will adhere to the following
minimum protective clothing requirements. No competitors will be allowed on the
race track without the minimum protective clothing required.
- A road full-face or MX type helmet of approved type, in sound condition and fitting securely.
- Protective knee and elbow padding.
- Full fingered leather gloves.
- Boots or tackies affording adequate protection to feet and ankles.
- Long trousers.
Race Numbers
The digits of race numbers must display sufficient contrast to the background on
which they are mounted. Numbers must at least be mounted in the center of the middle
section of the fairing below the front screen.
The choice of font is unrestricted but in their form and design the numbers must
ensure easy legibility from an appropriate distance.
No motorcycle will be permitted to participate in a MiniMoto SA sanctioned event
without displaying a race number. Should you not have a race number, a self adhesive
vinyl backing plate (white in colour) with black numbers will be assigned to you
for placement on your front faring below or on top of your front visor before being
allowed access to the circuit.
Numbers 1, 2 and 3 are reserved for winners of the 2011 season in their respective
class (to be used only in the class in which they achieved this result). Should
a conflict of race number exists, existing riders in each class get first choice
to carry over their 2011 race number.
Starting Positions
Grid positions for the first heat of the day will be determined my means of qualifying
times. The organisers reserve the right to exclude the qualifying session from any
event and should this be the case, grid positions will be determined by the championship
standings at that point in the series. Riders without a championship standing will
start at the back of the grid.
Grid positions for subsequent heats will be determined by the across the line finishing
positions of the previous heat. Non-finishers of the previous heat will be given
a starting position at the back of the grid.
Points and Scoring
Points will be awarded according to the following table. A rider that fails to receive
the chequered flag at the end of a heat will be deemed not to have finished the
heat and will receive zero points for that heat. Riders who may have been lapped
or not completed the full number of laps by the time the winning rider completes
the heat, will still receive points as per their finishing position.
- 1st = 25 points
- 2nd = 20 points
- 3rd = 16 points
- 4th = 13 points
- 5th = 11 points
- 6th = 10 points
- 7th = 9 points
- 8th = 8 points
- 9th = 7 points
- 10th = 6 points
- 11th = 5 points
- 12th = 4 points
- 13th = 3 points
- 14th = 2 points
- 15th and thereafter = 1 point
Dyno and Scruiteneering
Scruiteneering will take place for each class during the allocated pre-race grid
time before the open practice and qualifying sessions and/or by means of spot checks
throughout the day. It is the responsibility of each rider to ensure that they present
themselves and their motorcycles to the pre-race grid official in good time during
their specifically allocated slot. Once a rider and motorcycle have successfully
passed the scruiteneering process, they will be issued a sticker indicating that
they are race legal. Riders and motorcycles failing any of the criteria as set out
in these rules may be excluded from competition and the results.
Dyno checks form part of the race day. Rider(s), being requested by one of the organisers
or race officials to present their bike at the dyno for checking, shall do so at
the first available opportunity. Failure to comply will result in exclusion from
the results. Only official(s) appointed by the Clerk Of The Course will carry out
the operation of both the motorcycle and the dyno during the dyno check procedure.
Protest Procedure
The right to Protest lies solely with any competitor. Whom, may feel aggrieved by
any decision, act or omission of an organizer, official or competitor. Protests
against the decision of a "Judge of Fact", is not admissible. A collective Protest
is inadmissible. A late, Protest is inadmissible, unless the Race Directors deem
it was impossible to lodge a Protest at the time, within the time limits allowed.
Lodging a Protest
The intention to Protest must be made in writing to the COC for the day. He will
advise on the course of action to be taken. The Protest must be accompanied by the
relevant Protest fee as defined. The written Protest , must be made on the Official
MiniMoto SA Protest form, (see Appendix A)
Time limits for Protests
- A Protest against starting positions; within, 10 minutes of the notification of
such positions.
- A Protest against the decision of a Scrutineer or the Clerk of the Course; within
30 minutes of the notification of the decision. Whether technical or otherwise.
- A Protest against Championship Points will be made within 5 days of the relevant
event taking place.
- A Protest against the course (Track) or distance of a race; 30 minutes prior to
qualifying.
- A Protest against any Technical irregularity; 15 minutes prior to the start of the
first heat on the day, or, 15 minutes after the last heat.
Protest Fees
- Any non-technical Protest; the fee is R300-00. Non refundable. Any further costs
to entertain the hearing will be for the account of the Protester.
- Any Technical Protest; the fee is R1000,00. Plus any further costs, requiring experts
to assess and report on the irregularity/ies. Should the Protested machine be proved
to be in compliance with the rules, the Protestor, will cover any costs to restore
the Protested parties machine to race condition.
(Protest fees maybe paid in the form of; cash, cheque or promissory note. All fees
due, must be paid within 48 hours)
Findings of a Protest hearing
The findings of any technical Protest shall be deemed final. No appeals are allowed.
The findings of any non-technical Protest may be appealed. See below.
Appointment of Race Directors to handle Protests
If no Directors are appointed for the day, the following procedure will apply. The
Clerk of the Course will appoint three Race Directors to conduct the hearing. The
appointed persons may not have any direct interest, in the class concerned, neither
may they have any financial or conflict of interests, in the class concerned. Race
Directors may impose further penalties as they deem fit. Or cancel penalties
Appeals
Appeals are only accepted for non technical decisions. An Appeal may only be accepted
within 60 minutes of the decision of the Race Directors, at a Protest hearing. The
Appeal cost is R1000.00. Non refundable. The findings of an Appeal hearing shall
be final. The Appeal members may impose further penalties, or overturn penalties.
The members of an Appeal hearing are appointed by the Clerk of the Course and the
MiniMoto SA committee.
Protest and Appeal Fees
All Protest and Appeal fees will be used to further the MiniMoto SA aims in any
way they deem prudent.
