Saturday the 20th March saw over 80 pocket bike riders from around Gauteng descend on the Zwartkops Kart Circuit West of Pretoria for the much anticipated round 1 of the Out Of The Box Ideas sponsored corporate league. With most of Gauteng experiencing ‘floods’ in recent weeks, it was a great relief to riders and teams to see the sunshine as they arrived at the circuit for registration. The build up to the start of this season has seen so many new riders getting involved in the sport; it’s exciting to see the growth and depth of new talent coming into the sport.

Racing across all classes was hotly contested, but with the lack of kart rubber on the track (because we are still so early on in the year) the chances of any new laps records was slim. Lloyd Magill managed to post the fasted time of 0:58.220 on the day, just off the circuit record for pocket bikes.

Thank you to all participants, officials, marshals and to the Zwartkops Kart Circuit for an excellently prepared track. It was an excellent start to the season and we welcome all the new comers and hope they enjoy the season with us. A big well done to all the ladies who managed to end up on the podium!
