I’ve been back in Joburg for about 4 days now. The South Coast, and more precisely, Banana Beach was great, a perfect blend of sunshine, cloud, braai and beer. Your trusty timekeeper (and occasional rider) Quintus, his family and myself and my family decided to go down and spend 7 fun filled days forgetting about pocket bikes, gym and work and unwind for a while. It worked so well that it was hard to keep track of the day of the week. We spoke about pocket bikes for a grand total of 1 hour, and it was basically just setting goals for 2010. Do you want to know what a couple of them are…
To start with, we need an entry of at least 130 bikes at an event this year. I believe with everyone's support, bringing friends along to the Open Day etc. and with there being fewer rounds this year which will drop your racing budget by 20% and give a lot more time between events to get the bikes running again, 130+ bikes should be possible. It can’t be left up to us, we need every rider to get out there and find new people to bring along.
My second goal is to win back the Senior E championship. LOL, I know there are some people reading this that would like to disagree…
Bottom line is that I’ve only been back a few days, and although the break has been great, and I sure for us all, I just can’t wait for the first event. I think that the Open Day is going to be huge. I have just spoken with Bobby Idol (Rob Portman) and him and Shez (Sheridan Morais) will be there to check things out and maybe even go for a ride. There will be track opportunities for everyone, as well as classes on just about every topic surrounding riding a pocket bike – don’t miss this amazing FREE opportunity.
See you there…
